About the Imagination Library
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a FREE book-gifting program available to any child under age five, regardless of family income. Each month, children enrolled in the program receive a high-quality, age-appropriate book delivered right to their mailbox—addressed to them—at absolutely no cost to their family. This simple gift helps spark a love of reading, strengthens early literacy skills, and supports families in preparing children for lifelong learning.
Founded in 1995 in Dolly Parton’s home state of Tennessee, the Imagination Library now partners with local affiliates around the world to ensure young children have access to books during the most critical years of brain development.
Crossroads United Way is proud to serve as a local partner bringing this beloved program to families in our region. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and community partners, we help prepare young children for a strong start in school by giving them the joy and foundation of early reading—one free book at a time.
Who Is Eligible?
Every child from birth to age five who lives in the Crossroads United Way service area—Elkhart, LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben counties—is eligible to participate in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, regardless of family income. There is no cost to families, and enrolled children receive a carefully selected, age-appropriate book delivered directly to their home each month.
